Different look latex due to different background color
Making latex sheets seems really easy for some people because there are latex printers, right?
Unfortunately, that's really not the case. If that were the case, thousands of people would of course buy such a latex printer. And we could print dozens of sheets a day. Unfortunately....
Perhaps you have a color printer on your desk at home? Then you know that you can print an image in millions of colors at the touch of a button, and in just a few seconds!
We use various techniques when making our exclusive sheets. Some techniques are faster than others.
Our exclusive sheets, such as those with the leopard pattern, are made by hand, no printer is involved. This also means that we cannot process millions of colors in a sheet in a few seconds.
Each color is applied separately by hand. That layer must first dry before a new color layer can be applied. The more color layers, the more time it takes and the more expensive a sheet becomes. Technically, we can make sheets with many colors, but then a sheet would become really unaffordable.
The color layers are thin. And the pigments are unfortunately not opaque with such a thin layer. As a result, the background of a sheet has a strong influence on the image. To clarify that, here's a latex sheet with a design of roses, in 6 different looks.
The red roses and green leaves are made in exactly the same color for each sheet (red RAL 3020 and green RAL 6029)
As you can see, the roses and petals become a lot darker with a black background.
- With the latex with a white background, the real colors are visible.
- With the latex with a yellow background, the red becomes a little orange and the green a little lighter.
- With a pink background, the red becomes a little more powerful and the green a little lighter/brown.
- With a golden background, the red also becomes slightly browner/darker, just like the leaves.
If we had made the roses and petals in white, with a black background, the result would be a bit gray.
It is actually the same if you were to mix discoloration yourself:
- white + black = gray
- red + green = brown
- blue + yellow = green etc.
So if you are going to order a latex sheet from us with images such as the roses, leopard and snakeskin pattern, you can roughly estimate what the result will be.
